SpryPoint Partners with the City of West Jordan, Utah, to Modernize Water Utility Customer Experience and Operations

Unified, cloud-native customer information system supports real-time engagement, conservation goals, and operational efficiency for one of Utah’s fastest-growing cities

West Jordan, Utah — The City of West Jordan Water Utility has selected SpryPoint as its customer information system (CIS) partner as part of a broader modernization initiative to improve customer service, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

As Utah’s third-largest City and one of its fastest-growing communities, West Jordan serves approximately 27,000 residential water accounts. It continues to grow as a destination for parks, recreation, and family-friendly living, as reflected in the City’s motto, “Live, Work, Play.” City leaders recognized the need for modern, intuitive systems that scale with growth while delivering a better experience for both its residents and staff.

West Jordan’s modernization journey began with the deployment of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) to monitor water usage at the curb. In parallel, the City implemented Workday as its enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform for finance and human resources. With those investments in place, West Jordan sought a customer experience and billing solution that matched the same modern, consumer-grade experience.

“Our goal was simple: give our customers more control, more visibility, and easier ways to interact with the City, on their terms,” said Tyler Aitken, Treasurer for the City of West Jordan. “SpryPoint gives us a single, intuitive platform where customers can access their account, understand their water usage in real-time, receive alerts for leaks or unusual consumption, and manage billing with confidence.”

With conservation a major priority for the City, SpryPoint’s unified CIS enables real-time usage insights, proactive notifications, and automated customer communications. Customers benefit from a single self-service portal that provides transparent access to information. At the same time, the utility gains tools that deliver a real-time, full view of the customer across departments and a way to reduce reactive service calls.

Internally, the platform streamlines billing and service workflows, automates work orders, and integrates people, processes, and systems across departments, providing a single, trusted view of customer and operational data.

“West Jordan approached this project with a true consumer mindset, and that alignment made all the difference,” said Kevin Clancey, SpryPoint’s Chief Business Development Officer and Co-Founder. “By unifying customer engagement, billing, and operations on SpryPoint’s modern cloud-native platform, the City is positioned to serve residents more proactively today while building a foundation to support the City’s growth plans.”

The selection process moved efficiently, taking just three months from RFP to decision. This effort was led jointly by the Dity’s finance and IT teams, with input from departments across the organization, ensuring the solution met the needs of both customers and staff.

“With SpryPoint, we’re not just upgrading technology, we’re improving how we serve our community,” added Joe Bryant, who served as Lead Project Manager at the City. “This partnership supports better customer experiences, stronger conservation outcomes, and more efficient day-to-day operations as our City continues to grow.”
